Greek officials, including those from the governing party Syriza, withdrew all their money from the ATMs installed in the building of Parliament, the Greek newspaper Proto Thema reported. Greece’s parliamentarians and officials began to withdraw their funds on June 27 just after the announcement of the referendum on which people will express their opinion on the European financial support terms.
Ordinary people also lined up in a queue to take away their money. According to local mass media, on Saturday, in the first half of the day, around 400 million euros were taken out of banks.
The Greek government announced that all banks will be closed by July 6 and introduced limits on money withdrawal. Now, the Greek bank savers can withdraw only 60 euros a day.
