US budget deficit comes in at $455 billion

The world's largest economy is experiencing serious troubles. Summarizing financial results, the government of the United States is again faced with the problem of the budget deficit. According to the latest official report released by the Presidential Administration, the US has a budget deficit which is estimated at $455 billion. The document was prepared and signed by Shaun Donovan, the Office of Management and Budget Director. So, there is no doubt that such a huge figure is correct. However, it accounts for only 2.6 percent of GDP. Taking these circumstances into account, the budget deficit is not so big. Anyway, it is slightly lower than the figures for the previous reporting periods and below analysts' expectations. The government believes that currently they are capable of curbing the budget deficit growth and at the same time to stabilize the external debt. The government owes such success mainly to a strict adherence to the exchange rate policy introduced by President Barack Obama. If the US manages to retain control over the situation provided that external political and economic conditions are favorable, then the US budget deficit will shrink to 2.2 percent of GDP within next few years. In addition, the preliminary data showed a strong pace of job growth. Over the past five years, nearly 12.8 million of new jobs have been created in the US private sector. Since the beginning of 2014, the US unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent.
