Greece burdened with another debt

Difficult relationship between Greece and its creditors continues despite the reached consensus. On the one hand, Athens managed to get the needed funds; but on the other hand, it had to make significant concessions and fulfill the requirements of the European Commission for budget saving. However, it is never that simple. Once negotiations are ended, other ones have started. European Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva announced the beginning of a new round of talks between Greek officials and those of the international creditors. This time the meeting was not held in Brussels but on the native land of the debtor where the delegations of the European Union (EU), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB), and other distinguished money-lenders arrived. The main theme of the negotiations is technical details of the third bailout program worth €86 billion. The sum is quite considerable but if comparing with Greece’s debts, it is not that big. The country keeps on running up its debts while the new government focuses on populist statements instead of dealing with its financial problems. While Greek nationals supported its government voting against the tough deal with the international lenders and EU, the financial lending institutions notched up another victory. The Balkan country has been burdened with another debt to settle its other debts. Despite loud pledges of the Greek authorities, the global financial elite trusts only figures and agreement terms and therefore it can always find a reason to put pressure. As a result, Greece fulfilled everything the creditors required: it cut social benefits and sold government assets.
