Last week, Greece made a loan interest payment worth €186.3 million to the International Monetary Fund. It was the first time since early June that Greece had met the deadline for its interest charges to the IMF. The next IMF payment of €306 million is due on September 1. Moreover, Greece must repay the European Central Bank €3.2 billion until August 20, 2015.
Until this deadline, the international creditors are expected to transfer an emergency bridge loan restoring Greece’s solvency.
August 19, the eurozone finance ministers are supposed to unblock the bailout funds by their decision. Greece and the eurozone leaders reached an accord on the third bailout deal July 13. However, Athens can rely on the tranche only on condition that the government implements social and economic reforms.
The third bailout package totals €86 billion.
