The US government launched a new antitrust investigation against Google.
According to Bloomberg, Google is suspected of unlawful restriction of competitors’ access to its Android mobile-operating system.
The data shows that during joint investigation the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission inquired the employers of Google competitors, who claimed that Google gives priority to its own services on the Android platform while puts products of the other companies on the back burner.
The news agency’s informants said the investigation is in the early stages, therefore it is likely to end without pressing charges.
A similar antitrust investigation is conducted in Europe. It was reported that Google faces a US $5 billion fine there that is 10 per cent of the company’s revenue.
The final decision on this case will be made by the end of the year.
