Russian energy giant Gazprom has increased its gas exports to record levels. According to a published report, the volume of exports to the European Union and Turkey soared by 40 percent year-over-year in October. On a monthly basis, the figure came in at 14.7 billion cubic meters. For 10 months of 2015 ended October, exports has reached the level of 130.3 billion cubic meters, which is 4 percent, or 5.3 billion cubic meters higher than in the same period last year. These facts give reasons to believe that the company’s plans to export 160 billion cubic meters of gas this year are quite realistic. According to estimations, gas production may have reached 42 billion cubic meters in October, with a 6 percent annual gain. Natural gas output grew by 1.5 percent for the first time in September after 14 consecutive months of decrease. At the current extraction rate, the total volume of produced gas may have reached about 420 billion cubic meters for the year. In 2014, Gazprom extracted 444 billion cubic meters of gas.
