November 2, the Silicon Valley pioneer Hewlett-Packard announced the decision to split its business. Thus, the two independent companies entered the market, HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. They will operate in different segments of the hi-tech market. HP Inc. will focus on PCs and printers, while Hewlett Packard Enterprise will deal mainly with servers, storage, the cloud, networking, services, and software.
The corporations are similar in size. Meg Whitman, ex-Chief Executive Officer at Hewlett-Packard, and Dion Weisler, ex-Vice President, will be at the helm of the new mega-companies. On November 2, 2015, shares of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. started trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the HPE and HPQ tickers respectively.
“As two independent, industry-leading companies, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. can drive more focused business strategies,” Meg Whitman said. However, analysts do not rule out their merging with larger companies in the future.
