Ismail Lepiyev, the owner of Tourism Holding TH&C which includes Kogalymavia, told reporters that the airline is set to claim compensation from the Egyptian authorities. An Airbus A321 of Kogalymavia (Metrojet) crashed over the Sinai Peninsula as a result of a terrorist attack on October 31.
According to Lepiyev, the company is looking forward to reach an agreement on compensations without going to court as Russia and Egypt are long-time partners.
At the present moment, the Russian airline is waiting for the official results of the investigation from Egypt.
Kogalymavia is going to double its aircraft fleet from four to eight planes. In addition to charter program, the company is going to develop regular flights.
Russia’s transportation authority Rostransnadzor said it had found no serious violations in operations of Kogalymavia.
On November 17, Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) Aleksandr Bortnikov announced in a meeting with Vladimir Putin that А321 crashed as a result of a terrorist attack. Traces of foreign explosives were found on debris and on the baggage of the aircraft. The FSB chief added that an improvised explosive device equivalent to one kilo of TNT detonated on board of the plane. Resulting from such an explosion, the aircraft just broke up in the air.
Russian President Vladimir Putin promised that those who are responsible for the terrorist attack would be found and punished.
