US indices experience worst trading week in history

The first trading week of the new year became the worst in the history for the US stock indices.
According to MarketWatch, during the first five trading sessions in 2016, the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 6.2%, Standard & Poor's 500 lost 6% and Nasdaq Composite went down by 7.3%.
The same situation was observed on other stock markets. Thus, the Chinese Shanghai Composite crashed by 10%, Stoxx Europe 600 decreased by 6.7% recording the maximum reduction in four years. The composite indicator for the developing countries MSCI Emerging Market, decreased by 6.8% while MSCI World fell by 6.2%. For the latter indicator the week became the worst since 2011.
Even the US positive statistics released at the end of the week did not give any support to the US stock market. The US stock indices lost about 1% at the close of trading on Friday.
The reduction was observed in all ten industry groups of S&P 500. The index itself decreased by 1.08% and ended up at 1922,03 level. Financial companies, health care and energy industry suffered most of all.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup Inc. dropped by 2.2%. The market value of Chevron Corp. and Exxon Mobil Corp. decreased by 1.1% and 2% respectively against the backdrop of oil prices fall to the new minimums.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost ground by 1.02% and reached 16346,45 level.
Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.98% to 4643,63 level.
