Petrol in UAE now cheaper than water

Amid the continued decrease in global crude prices, the price of petrol at the pump has been falling in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the UAE daily, The National, a range of essential everyday items, water in particular, is now significantly more costly than petrol.
The citizens of Dubai witness a liter of Special is worth 40 cents, while a 1.5-litre bottle of Evian mineral water is $2.15 and a liter of Pepsi costs 80 cents. A box of six eggs goes for $1.06.
“While it’s always nice to save money in Dubai, it’s scary to think of the effects of low oil prices and what’s happening to the economy as a result of it. It’s a bit scary for Dubai residents,” Yasmine Saade made a comment.
Ecologist Dr Hassan Galadari expresses concern that lower fuel prices can keep car owners from deciding on smaller fuel-efficient vehicles, which has less negative environmental impact.
