Despite prohibitions and public reprimand, North Korea’s government regularly carries out tests of various weapons. The recent one took place in January and February. Of course, testing of nuclear missiles provokes deep concerns. The US warns that North Korea poses danger to the neighboring and other countries. Thus, US president Barack Obama decided to tighten and expand sanctions on North Korea.
The decision was announced by White House spokesman Josh Earnest who confirmed that this package of sanctions goes further than the previous sanctions. The new sanctions allow the US to block property of the North Korean government and Workers’ Party of Korea on the US territory. The White House said that the sanctions primarily targeted assets of the industrial sector, including transport, mining, energy, and financial sectors.
Besides, the restrictions ban US exports and reexports to North Korea. Moreover, the US president prohibited investment to the country. The sanctions also apply to US citizens supplying precious metals, graphite, coal, and software to the North Korean authorities. Every person who breaks the executive order will not be allowed to visit the US.
