While Ukrainian politicians are struggling to find the worthiest of them all, the country may be left without financial support. The ongoing political crisis has been palling to the International Monetary Fund, one of Ukraine’s main creditors. These inconveniences used to be concealed and allies pretended that everything was fine. But now the IMF’s officials are expressing their discontent.
William Murray, Deputy Spokesman for the Communications Department, stated that they need more clarity in the situation in Ukraine to engage. Mr. Murray pointed out that they are not going to stop working with the country. Currently, the IMF hopes that the issue will be tackled soon and waits for the clearer status of the government. The organization also expresses its readiness to complete the review of the IMF program.
In his speech, Mr. Murray said: “We never stop work with any country unless there is something that prevents us from physically working in the country. Once there is more clarity about the status of the government, we’ll look forward to engage with the authorities on policies to strengthen and transform Ukraine.” Now, the Ukrainians have only to wait until the political mess finally ends.
