The global community is closely monitoring post-Brexit developments. The anti-EU sentiment is running high in various countries, so populist politicians are calling on people to follow Britain’s example and hold a similar referendum. At the same time, two large EU economies, which are also geographical neighbors, might unite into the European superpower. Policymakers of Germany and France are due to reveal a blueprint of their efficient political and economic alliance. Besides, Berlin and Paris are working on a reform package for the EU countries.
The project leaked to Poland’s news channel, TVP Info, and sparked fury and panic among other EU members. The TV channel presented a copy of the bombshell proposal, signed by the foreign ministers of Germany and France. If the information comes true, it looks like the ultimatum to other EU countries. The introduction reads, "Our countries share a common destiny and a common set of values that give rise to an even closer union between our citizens. We will therefore strive for a political union in Europe and invite the next Europeans to participate in this venture." The project sets out that participating countries will lose the right to have their own army, currency, law, taxation system, and central bank. They will operate under the common visa and tax legislation. Moreover, the union is to pursue the common foreign policy and restrict the NATO influence.
