US banks hold top five positions in global investment ranking

For the first time in six years, US banks have taken the top five places in the ranking of the world’s largest investment banks. Deutsche Bank went to the sixth place.
According to Financial Times, the data was compiled by industry analytics firm Coalition and takes into account banks’ revenue from market activities.
JPMorgan retained its place at the top of the ranking despite the fact that its revenue came in at $12.5 billion, down 5.3% from the same period a year ago.
Goldman Sachs and Citigroup held the second place in the first half of the year.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch stood fourth, while Morgan Stanley took the fifth place from Deutsche.

Thus, all five of the world's top banks are now located in the United States, for the first time since Coalition began the series in 2011.
"The Coalition results reflect the strategic decisions we have taken to streamline our products, geographical footprint and client base," Deutsche Bank said.
Despite falling in Coalition's ranking, Deutsche Bank still remains the leading non-US investment bank globally and a top two player in Emea.
However, the bank now has other issues, besides restructuring. Earlier, the US Justice Department proposed that Deutsche Bank pay $14 billion to settle an investigation into its selling of mortgage-backed securities before the 2008 financial crisis.
After news broke, the bank’s shares plummeted by more than 7% in a few hours.
