The consortium of oil and gas giants is about to launch a new natural gas plant in Bolivia.
The Incahuasi plant is built on one of the largest gas and condensate fields in Bolivia. Its capacity is estimated at 50,000 barrels per day. The field reserves equal 70.8 billion cubic meters of gas and 4.8 million tons of gas condensate.
90% of Incahuasi gas is destined for export, mainly to Argentina and Brazil while the rest of the output is to be used for domestic consumption. The project is operated by Total E&P Bolivie which owns 50%, alongside partners are Gazprom with 20%, TecPetrol de Bolivia with 20%, and YPFB Chaco with 10%.
Gazprom, the jewel in the Russian economy’s crown, entered into partnership with Bolivia under the memorandum signed in 2007. It aims for the cooperation in production, transportation, and processing of natural gas as well as scientific research.
