Last week, UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said that there will be no delays in the start of formal negotiations for Britain to leave the European Union. During his visit to Berlin, Boris Johnson said that the High Court ruling that the government does not have power to trigger Article 50 without parliamentary approval will not derail Britain's exit from the EU.
Meanwhile, Mrs May made a round of calls to senior EU leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, assuring them her timetable was unchanged.
The UK government insisted that the decision could be taken based on the referendum results. It vowed to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
According to BBC, even if May wins its appeal against the High Court ruling, the majority of MPs in the House of Commons will likely vote for triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
