Global gas giant Gazprom set a new record for daily exports. Russia’s state-backed gas company is Europe’s largest supplier of natural gas. As of October 18, Gazprom boosted gas sales to 578.9 million cubic meters per day. On October 21, its gas flow increased to 590 million cubic meters per day. A bit later, on November 10 the gas giant exported 591.7 million cubic meters per day, thus hitting the all-time record for the history of Russia’s gas industry.
“For nearly nine months of 2016, our gas exports have already equaled sales for the whole 2015. There are still two months ahead. This year, we expect to beat the gas supplies of the last year,” said Gazprom boss Alexei Miller. In October, European gas flows expanded by 16% to 16.9 billion cubic meters. This is also the record monthly volume in the company’s history. Gazprom sold a larger volume in November 2007, to be exact 16.98 billion cubic meters. Nowadays, an average price for gas supplied under long-term contracts is $170 per 1,000 cubic meters.
