Outgoing US President Barack Obama said he hopes to see the implementation of the Minsk agreement on Ukraine before his presidential term expires.
Barack Obama talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting in Lima, Peru on November 20. During a short conversation, Obama expressed concern on the airstrikes in Aleppo and called on the political settlement of the Syrian conflict.
Obama said that speaking with Putin in Lima he did not raise the question about Russia’s hacking into Democratic Party email systems in the run-up to the US presidential elections.
“The issue of the elections did not come up because that’s behind us and I was focused in this brief discussion on moving forward,” Obama said.
