US President-elect Donald Trump said on Twitter his intention to quit business before he takes office in January.
"Even though I am not mandated by law to do so, I will be leaving my businesses before January 20th so that I can focus full time on the presidency," he wrote. “Two of my children, Don and Eric, plus executives, will manage them. No new deals will be done during my term(s) in office,” he wrote.
Besides, Trump announced a long-awaited press conference. He unveiled his plans in another tweet: “I will hold a press conference in the near future to discuss the business, Cabinet picks and all other topics of interest. Busy times!”
Originally, Trump planned to hold the media conference on December 15, but postponed it until January. Before his resounding victory at the election, Trump’s business focused on real estate and intellectual property. According to Forbes’s list of America’s 400 richest people in 2016, his wealth is estimated at $3.7 billion, so he is ranked 113th in the US.
Interestingly, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko pledged to sell his business more than once. A few days ago, he said in an interview to BBC that he is not able to sell his confectionery plant due to lack of buyers as his country is engaged in the war.
