There is an opinion that robots are nothing but anthropomorphic machines that possess artificial intellect and are intended for satisfying needs of the human race. Meanwhile, these machines are replacing people gradually. It is referred to simple robotized mechanisms that can easily perform various types of work.
Nowadays, there is a lot of evidence that human interference is no longer necessary in most spheres, especially in those which involve hi-tech production. Thus, robots can construct cars and planes, braze electronic chips, answer calls, as well as paint, polish, and sort things. The list of tasks which can be fulfilled by robots is updated every year. In connection with that Bill Gates stood up for people’s rights. He suggested that robots should be taxed. The pace of automation is too fast, so Mr Gates thinks that this process can be controlled with the help of taxes. “Right now, the human worker who does, say, $50,000 worth of work in a factory, that income is taxed and you get income tax, social security tax, all those things. If a robot comes in to do the same thing, you’d think that we’d tax the robot at a similar level,” the billionaire said, adding that it was necessary to think about some other ways of slowing the pace of automation.
According to the World Bank’s estimates, more than 5 million people risk to lose their jobs because of the automation over the next 20 years. Moreover, the risks of that are higher in the developing countries where this process has started just recently and is gaining momentum. So, many professions may disappear while some of them have already become a thing of the past.
