According to the Chinese monthly magazine Hurun Report, the preponderance of dollar billionaires resides in Asia. This region is populated by 608 out of 1,453 world’s billionaires, while North America has just 440 residents with incomes over a billion dollars. As for Europe, it is favoured by 324 well-off people.
The top spot in the rating of Hong Kong's richest men belongs to Li Ka-shing who made a fortune of $32 billion. The wealthiest man in the entire world is Carlos Slim from Mexico with his $66 billion bank account. Mr Slim is followed by Warren Buffet owning $58 billion. The third place is taken by Amancio Ortega with a net worth of $55 billion. The top ten also includes Bill Gates; Larry Ellison; Bernard Arnault; Li Ka-shing; the bil-lionaire Koch brothers, Charles and David; and Liliane Bettencourt.
As for the countries popular with billionaires, the USA ranks first (409), then comes China (317), and the third is Russia (88). Moreover, there are also Great Britain, Germany, India, Brazil, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and France in the top ten.
The total wealth of the world's dollar billionaires was estimated at $5.5 trillion.
