China to become a solar power leader

A research by Bloomberg found that this year Germany is likely to yield its palm to China as the world’s solar power leader.
The Chinese authorities are planning to add 10 gigawatts of solar power capacity this year and 35 gigawatts by 2015.
By the end of 2013, the total capacity of Chinese solar power plants is expected to be 34.1 gigawatts, which is 14% more than a year ago. Note that 34 gigawatts is the energy that eight nuclear power plants taken together can generate.
In 2012, the sector of solar power posted some 4.4 percent growth. Later however, the demand for solar panels and similar equipment rose considerably.
Because China is a number one carbon dioxide emitter in the world, the national government is eagerly developing the solar power industry. In addition, this country lacks energy resources, so it heavily relies on imports. For instance, in 2012 China was the world’s largest oil importer. At present, it imports 56 percent of oil, and by 2015 it is seen to bring in 61 percent of the black gold.
