It is hard to stay positive when things go wrong, but some people have this unique ability to keep chin up even in tricky situations. The Russian authorities possess this valuable quality. The United States have recently approved a new package of sanctions against the mighty trio – Iran, Russia and North Korea, but Vladimir Chizhov, Russia’s ambassador to the EU, found a positive aspect.
The official stated that the Russian diplomacy secured a victory once again. One verb was enough to lift spirits. The ambassador turned more positive after a verb “shall” had been replaced with “may”. Mr. Chizhov thinks that this is a great achievement. He said that it happened owing to Russia’s smart foreign policy. Thus, the Russian authorities are under the illusion that they can cultivate the necessary qualities in the US policymakers. Meanwhile, the Americans do not bother to discuss any terms and conditions of the new sanctions with Russia. In fact, it was the Europeans who called for a replacement of the verb, not the Americans. However, the EU influence is not strong enough to change the attitude towards Russia. Meanwhile, the odds of allowing Russia to participate in international energy projects rose from 10% to 33%, but Vladimir Chizhov said that it does not refer to the Nord Stream 2. Still, nothing matters more than a positive mood.
