According to a study by eMarketer, the use of Facebook by teenagers in the US would decline this year. For the first time in its existence, Facebook is expected to see a drop in the use among a particular age group.
The number of users aged 12 to 17 will fall by 3.4% to 14.5 million people in 2017. Experts say they are turning to Instagram and Snapchat.
Still, Facebook remains the biggest social network with 2 billion monthly users worldwide. However, it is losing its luster among Generation Z.
Meanwhile, these are just predictions. Mark Zuckerberg’s company performs well. In the second quarter of 2017, Facebook boosted its net profit by 71% with the vast majority of its revenue coming from advertising. Its shares soared to record highs on strong quarterly results.
Facebook posted net income of $3.894 billion ($1.32 per share) compared with $2,283 billion ($0.78 per share) a year earlier. Its revenue rose by 45% to $9.321 billion from $6.436.
