Chinese video games sales double overseas

Recently, China has been actively pushing for leadership in the video games sphere and carrying out international expansion.

Game producers from all over the world has been working hard to enter the fast-developing Chinese market. App Annie reports that Chinese-based firms show strong results abroad.

According to analysts, in the first half of 2017, the Chinese video game companies more than doubled their revenue from overseas markets in comparison with the same period last year. The companies, including subsidiaries as well as local and foreign branches, made over $3 billion abroad.

A takeover of Finland’s Supercell (Clash of Clans, Clash Royale) by China’s Tencent in October 2016 had a significant impact on the total number.

The largest part of the revenue growth accounts for overseas branches of the Chinese game developers. Excluding this figure, the annual increase made up only 40%.

It was reported earlier that China’s video game market continues expanding and has reached 25% of the global video game industry.
