It seems there is no limit to the optimism of Russian gas producers as all positive people have gathered in this industry. Sanctions, construction shutdown of all kinds of pipelines ("Nord Stream 2" and "Turkish Stream"), the refusal of the Chinese side to participate in the project "The Power of Siberia" on the previous terms, the massive implementation of renewable energy technologies in Europe, nothing of these counts as a drama.
Despite all these and many other problems, the Russian authorities forecast that their domestic gas will have eternal dominance in the European market. But progress does not stand still. Europe has already received gas from the US and actively brings alternative energy sources into use. Statistics illustrates that less and less gas is purchased with every year and its value grows down along with demand. Gazprom proudly reports on an increase in export volumes, and this is true, but at the same time, it has declared a profit decline for several years now. This suggests that more gas is sold for less money. Another hit for the Russian gas industry is new US sanctions on the construction of Nord Stream 2, even if the eurozone would approve this project.
In addition, Donald Trump can take action against enterprises which plan to invest in the construction of export pipelines more than $5 million per year, or $1 million at a time. But we know that there are no limits to the optimism of Russian gas producers!
