Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced his personal challenge for 2018. He has been setting personal goals every year since 2009. Thus, Mark has already run 365 miles, built AI for his home, read 25 books in a year, visited every US state, and studied the Mandarin language. His new challenge is to solve problems that cause disturbance and dissension all around the world.
To achieve this goal, Mark intends to make good use of the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Lately, the technologies that provided people with the feeling of freedom have become a tool of control for the authoritarian governments. Users of social nets are surveilled, and a person may be sent to jail for an ill-considered post. The blockchain technology has great potential for decentralizing Facebook and other segments of the Internet. Encryption and cryptocurrencies have already derailed the centralized control, so people have a real chance to oppose the system.
“I'm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services,” Zuckerberg posted on his profile’s wall. The Facebook CEO has proved to be a resolute person, so let us wait for his decisive steps.
