The US President is really obsessed with the ambitious idea of building the Great Wall of America. The White House Administration sent a request to the Congress, asking to allocate 18 billion dollars for this purpose. This sum should be enough to construct a wall of 9.1 meters in height that would secure more than 50% of the border.
The project runs up to 2027. The request will be considered within budget planning for the US fiscal year of 2018 that started on October 1. The main national financial document has not been approved yet, so Donald Trump has all chances to get funds for fulfilling his dream. However, he also needs to persuade the Democrats who are dead set against building such a construction. “President Trump has said he may need a good government shutdown to get his wall. With this demand, he seems to be heading in that direction,” Senate Democrat of Illinois Dick Durbin said.
The Great Wall of America is one of the key election pledges of Donald Trump. However, during his presidential campaign, he promised that the Mexican government will pay for this wall. The Mexicans, in their turn, refused to sponsor this wild idea, so now the US President hopes to get 18 billion dollars from the Congress. Whether he will get the money or not, we will learn very soon. For the time being, the Great Wall of America is nothing more than just a project and Trump’s fantasy.
