Last year, harsh weather cost the United States a record $306 billion. The enormous number of hurricanes that hit the US this year was the main cause of financial losses. In addition, the country severely suffered from forest fires. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria contributed to making 2017 the costliest year on record. All in all, the year of 2017 brought 16 natural disasters of various types in the United States. Moreover, the damage turned out to be three times higher than the previous record. Looking at such impressive losses, one starts to doubt an old saying that there is no bad weather.
