A new response from Turkey looks like this: you imposed sanctions, brought down the exchange rate of our currency, do not pay any attention to us, so we will not buy iPhone. It sounds really frightening! In an attempt to participate in the situation, the President of Turkey called for a boycott of American goods, primarily electronics, and particularly the iPhone.
In his patriotic impulse, Erdogan went even further and said that Turkey is able to independently produce similar technological products of higher quality. That is why there is no need to buy these goods for foreign currency from foreign producers. Apparently, before that, Turkey did not produce products just to let Apple earn extra money. "Legendary" Turkish smartphones and tablets, microchips and accessories are already waiting for their release on the conveyor. Very soon the world will learn about Turkish cars. Probably such thoughts visit the head of Erdogan. But for now, the President advised local fans of Apple products to switch to Samsung. But there is a problem: the major share in Samsung Electronics belongs to minority investors, the largest of which is Citibank in the US.
This once again confirms that all such statements are banal populism with no grounds and are aimed at the impressionable part of the population. The promises to make own iPhone, Ford, Microsoft and so on only emphasize the helplessness. After all, no one has forbidden doing this before, and no one does it now.
