One of the main issues at the G8 summit was the armed conflict in Syria. The countries’ leaders have unanimously voted for holding another Geneva Convention in order to negotiate the situation in Syria. The agreement proposes the peaceful solution to the crisis without any fundamental changes in the nation's leadership. Particularly, the document does not consider the fact that current President Bashar al-Assad is going to resign. The world public has criticized the use of chemical weapon by Syria's authorities, so the United Nations is going to launch the investigation into this precedent. Vladimir Putin said that Russia has no proof of the chemical attack. The president also called for an expertise by the World Healthcare Organization and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. “Such approach will help to find out the truth,” Mr Putin said. The G8 leaders also approved the humanitarian aid for Syrian citizens that totals $1.5 billion. The summit members are set to continue supplying the opposition with arms and appeal to the world to tackle the issue of international terrorist organizations. The conference in Geneva, which is likely to take place in August, will decide the fate of the Syrian arming rebels. The U.S.A. and Russia's presidents also had the bilateral meeting during the summit. In 2014, Russia is going to chair the G8 summit in Sochi.
