Unlike other countries, the United States steadily increases defense spending. One need only consider the figures.
This year, the US military costs reached a record $725.5 billion which is over 15 times higher than the Russian defense budget of about $48 billion. Having seen this hefty sum, some experts say that with such expenses on the US Army, the country would very soon go bankrupt. Now, besides old myths about a huge national debt and an unsecured dollar, there is another rumor about a new threat to the US financial stability. Some analysts believe that as the US government spends much more than it receives from tax revenues, it is forced to take massive loans from other countries to stabilize the economy.
In fact, the United States spends as much as it can afford, and the country can afford a lot. At the same time, in percentage terms, Russia's military spending is higher than the one of the United States. It accounts for 17 percent and 14 percent of GDP, respectively. At the same time, the two countries have different GDP volumes. So, the defense costs that are not commensurate with the incomes would bankrupt Russia rather than the United States.
