The Alliance with Microsoft plunged Nokia shares by 14%

On February 11 the shares of Nokia slumped by 13.8% as compared to the close price of the previous day. An abrupt decrease happened due to the news reporting that the Finnish company had signed a partnership agreement with Microsoft.
The agreement assumes that Nokia will dwell upon strategic positioning of Windows Phone. At the same time the enterprises will co-work on the development of the aforementioned platform.
In accord to Bloomberg, the signing of a treaty means that the plans of Nokia to create the platform with personal software which could be the rivalry to the smartphones of Apple and Google, fell through. Earlier, the top-priority platform for Nokia was its own development – Symbian, however, lately this OS gave Google Android the leadership on the market.
The production of Windows Phone should become a foreground among other products of Nokia in the class of smartphones. It is assumed that a new development will be competitive to the smartphones with the platform Google Android.
