Russia signs deal with Huawei to develop 5G network

While the whole world avoids cooperating with Huawei, Russia has signed a deal with the Chinese tech company to build a 5G wireless network. Remarkably, the authorities of several countries have published strong evidence that China’s manufacturer is no longer a commercial company but a unit of the county’s intelligence service. Back in February, US intelligence agencies warned American citizens that it was dangerous to use smartphones made by Huawei. The FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the National Intelligence Agency expressed an opinion that the producer works for China’s government and was involved in espionage. After that, the US officially appealed to the allies to abolish the use of Huawei products. The White House called the situation alarming as the security of American military bases located in Germany, Italy and Japan is in jeopardy. However, Russia does not care about such a turn of events and is ready to cooperate with Huawei. MTS President Alexei Kornya and Huawei Chairman Guo Ping signed the agreement, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping watching. Mr Kornya said that thanks to the long-standing mutually beneficial relations, MTS and Huawei continued to strengthen their market positions. "Today, with the signing of the 5G development agreement, our partnership is reaching a new level — we not only give impetus to the strategic cooperation of the two high-tech companies, creating the basis for the commercial use of 5G networks in Russia in the very near future, but also contribute to the further development of trade and economic relations between Russia and China," the MTS president added.
