The people in Argentina are suffering hard of food shortage. Recently, the citizens have trembled with indignation about the flour crisis, and here is a vegetable one. Argentines have been asked to eat fewer tomatoes for two months, because of crop rotations. The country's government called on the consumers to tighten their belts and stay away from tomatoes. Such a hard shortfall of this vegetable on the domestic market could push the authorities into these harsh measures. Only the total refusal of tomatoes may solve the problem of the harvest failure. “For this reason, and for a period of approximately sixty days, we suggest the use of alternative products,” statement from the government's Office of Domestic Commerce says. Unfortunately, the list of those “alternative products” has not been released yet. After the recent jump in essential commodities prices, in particular, flour, the Argentines do not uphold another government's request. Besides, a tomato is one of the main and irreplaceable ingredients in the national dishes.
