At first, the head of the Evenk Autonomous Okrug has awarded himself a medal and then paid for it with the regional budget funds. That is not for the first time when officials awarded themselves at the state’s expense. The government reward Stolypin medal cost the region 97,000 rubles. Ironically, the decoration was introduced to encourage public officers in large individual contribution to social and economic development of Russia. The embossed lettering on the medal says: “To the glory of Russia, for the benefit of the Russians.” However, head of the region Pyotr Suvorov understood that in his own way. To date, the investigative committee brought a criminal case of power abuse against the new award recipient. According to the preliminary data, Mr Suvorov had received an official letter from the non-governmental organization The Committee on Awards and Titles that offered the head of the municipal formation to come to Moscow, where he would be solemnly awarded the Stolypin medal. But there was one tiny detail – he was supposed to pay 97,000 rubles. So, the official decided to take advantage of his seat and directed to allocate the needed sum. The investigation led the enforcement authorities to believe that another awardee, head of the Shushensky District Anatoly Kerzik, deserves the same assiduous attention.
