US President Trump softens his tone on Huawei

US President Donald Trump eventually softened his tone on Huawei. Earlier, Trump’s administration included China’s communications giant in the blacklist comprising China’s companies and individuals which were barred from doing business with the US. Huawei faced a lot of indictments such as alleged economic espionage and violation of US sanctions on Iran. Thus, Huawei became subject to US restrictions. Extending the losing streak, other countries imposed their sanctions on China’s smartphone maker after an inquiry revealed that it had spied over private users and provided personal information to China’s intelligence agencies. As a result, the company nearly lost its access to Android. So, the high-tech giant got into serious trouble. CEO Ren Zhengfei used to estimate that the overall sanctions would inflict losses of $100 billion. Remarkably, later Donald Trump revised his stance on Huawei and granted it waivers with a view to rebooting the trade talks. Another move on the path to the trade deal was permission to some American companies to sell their products to Huawei. This decision would enable all companies registered in the US or operating there to evade the sanctions. Perhaps, Huawei has fallen prey to the trade war between the two largest global economies. Nevertheless, citing Donald Trump Huawei came under pressure due to its threat to national security that is always given the highest priority.
