On Tuesday, president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in Abu Dhabi with an official visit. The high-level talks resulted in two new large major deals between the countries. Earlier this year, the official visit of the Russian president to Saudi Arabia had confirmed a long-standing partnership between Russia and the Kingdom. During the meeting, representatives of the countries managed to sign the contracts with a total amount of approximately $1.5 billion. In particular, more than $600 million is going to be invested in the joint leasing company for Russian passenger aircraft. During his visit to the UAE on October 15, Vladimir Putin has presented Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with a white Kamchatka falcon, a trained hunting bird. A good choice since falcons always return with a trophy. During the meeting, further cooperation on oil was discussed. In particular, Russia’s participation in OPEC was in closer focus. Being a part of OPEC may turn to be unprofitable for Russia since the organisation applies some restrictions on its members. Today, the signed Charter of Cooperation with ten non-OPEC countries, the OPEC+, also includes Russia. From now on, Russia is obliged to coordinate its oil supply policy with the OPEC’s decisions.
