Long-awaited trade deal could be around corner

Nowadays market sentiment is highly sensitive to the news on the trade talks between the two largest global economies. The US and China seem to be firmly on the path to the interim trade deal. The first phase deal could be signed earlier than the markets expect. Citing US President Donald Trump, both Washington and Beijing are interested in making the agreement as soon as possible. “So we’re about I would say a little bit ahead of schedule maybe a lot ahead of schedule,” the US leader said in an interview speaking about a vast agenda to be agreed for the first phase deal. The President hopes to sign the deal with his Chinese counterpart at a summit in Chile. On November 16, the summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is due to start in Santiago, Chile’s capital city. Donald Trump had already dropped hints that the trade war could be terminated on the sidelines of the summit. Investors are cautiously optimistic that the painstaking trade talks would eventually bear fruit. At last, Beijing excluded the controversial issues out of the agenda: reforms of China’s industry and government support for enterprises. Perhaps with such concessions, the battle of tariffs which has been lasting for nearly 15 months is likely to come to an end soon.
