Switzerland mints world’s smallest coin

Switzerland has always been good at creating tiny things and making them exclusive and therefore expensive. Swiss watches are a good example of such attention to detail. This time, the Swissmint has issued a gold coin that is said to be the smallest in the world. The coin is just 2.96 millimetres in length and weighs 0.063 grams. Newly minted currency features the famous image of Albert Einstein - a renowned physicist and Nobel Prize winner - who is sticking his tongue out as on the iconic photo made by Arthur Sasse in 1951. On the other side of the coin, there is a Helvetia inscription (symbol of Switzerland) and a cross. The coin has a nominal value of 0.25 Swiss francs, but the first exemplar was sold for as much as 199 francs, and this is not the limit. Numismatists are looking forward to getting such a coin as they will be given a special magnifying glass to see the smallest details of the image.
