Assembling a range of components for the Russian state-of-the-art aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 might start up in China. Daily Vedomosti reported on this on August 27 citing an anonymous source.
According to the data from the printed source, the cooperation agreement with the Chinese partners might be signed in the course of MAKS-2013, the International Aviation and Space Show that is held near Moscow in Zhukovskiy on August 27. However, the talks are grinding on as interviewees remark. It has been still unknown what kind of spare parts for SSJ-100 could be produced in China. Meanwhile, spare parts for European aerospace company Airbus are currently being manufactured at Chinese factories. Sergey Sinakoyev, the Executive secretary of the Russian-Chinese Centre of Trade and Economic Cooperation stated that the issue concerning the spare parts production for SSJ-100 in China can be solved only on condition that People’s Republic of China will purchase a large batch of the Russian airplanes: one hundred and more. Besides, an unnamed senior executive of the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company which produces a Superjet told the newspaper that not only Chinese companies apply for a partner’s status in the project but Indian ones as well. However, the talks with the would-be partners for SSJ-100 from India have not advanced so far.
As it was reported in June, Belarus is also discussing with the Russian side the possibility of hosting the facility for the spare parts production for Russian civil and military aircraft including Sukhoi Superjet.
SSJ-100 is the first aircraft designed in Russia but not in the USSR. Its supplies to customers originated in spring 2011. By now, more than 170 orders for such a jet airliner have been booked at the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company.
