Donald Trump to suspend all immigration into US due to corona crisis

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, US President Donald Trump has decided to sign an executive order to suspend immigration into the United States. Notably, much of the immigration flow into the country has already been canceled during the coronavirus pandemic. For instance, the travel restrictions have been imposed on most countries such as Europe, China, Canada, Mexico, and Iran. However, Trump did not provide any comments on how long this moratorium on migration would last. Some experts think that such a step is rather predictable given the fact that since the very beginning of his Presidency, Trump was trying to curb the flow of immigrants to the country. Therefore, the coronavirus epidemic is merely an excuse to turn his long-standing plan into life. “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States,” Trump tweeted. On the other hand, despite all the criticism, the US President's attempt to protect the labor market appears to be very brave. However, Democrats called the proposed ban xenophobic and un-American. They accused Trump of using the pandemic as a cover for his hard-line immigration policy. "This action is not only an attempt to divert attention away from Trump’s failure to stop the spread of the coronavirus and save lives, but an authoritarian-like move to take advantage of a crisis and advance his anti-immigrant agenda”, congressman Joaquin Castro burst into criticism on Donald Trump’s decision on Twitter.
