The US president blames China for the coronavirus outbreak. However, he refuses to admit his own mistakes. The US government headed by Barack Obama took into account previous viral outbreaks in China and developed specialized instructions aimed at combating against possible virus attacks. However, Donald Trump has destroyed all the documents without offering new strategies.
"We left a playbook. He ignored it. We created an office to prepare for pandemics. He gutted it. We had CDC officials in China to detect and contain outbreaks. He pulled them out. Trump can try and shift blame all he wants, but the fact is his actions left us unprepared," Joe Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President, said.
Of course, China is responsible for the COVID-19 spread. However, Mr. Trump left the US "unprepared" for the coronavirus outbreak. The pandemic poses a great threat to the US economic power that is its main advantage.
Investor Warren Buffett also commented on the situation. He said that he did not know any other powerful country with large production and huge population that pushed back its own economy and labor force. He supposes that this inevitably makes people angry and anxious and affects their psyche. Besides, a lot of US citizens are losing their savings. Buffett calls dealing with the pandemic "quite an experiment" that has an "extraordinarily wide" range of possible economic outcomes.
