Medvedev speculates on the lessons the crisis taught us

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that “the crisis has taught us many things”. According to Medvedev, the aftermath of the world’s financial turmoil will be helpful in the future since it is an invaluable experience the nations got in practice. Economists were able to see effects and causes in reality, thus getting an opportunity to use the knowledge in the event of potential financial shocks.
“Overall, the crisis has taught us many things. We now know what to do in an economic downturn, and we are ready to honour our commitments to our people, who have given us a huge credit of trust,” Prime Minister said in his article posted on the website of the Russian government.
Moreover, for reasons that are not well understood, Medvedev links the reasonableness of the government to the results of the latest elections. He is sure that it is high percentage of the vote that confirms the support of the citizens and only by virtue of people’s love and faith in the government, the ruling political force has not been replaced in Russia, unlike in the majority of developed countries. For example, the governments of several EU countries stepped down from office admitting their mistakes and unpreparedness for the crisis, while in case of Russia “this is the advance payment, and we will have to work hard to prove that we are worthy of this trust,” Medvedev said.
