Draghi perturbed about U.S. shutdown

ECB's President Mario Draghi has told about real threats to the European economy at a news conference in Brussels. Europe’s top central banker paid special attention to the U.S. government shutdown. Republicans and Democrats failed to reach a U.S. budget deal. That is why the U.S. public sector partially went on leave. Moreover, the country would default on its debts on October 17. The recent events could put negative influence on the European economy. “A protracted U.S. government shutdown would threaten the global economy”, Draghi said. Amid the weak, fragile and uneven recovery in the region, Washington stand-off could set the European nations back offsetting the results against the crisis gained earlier. Analysts think the global economy would not stand another shock. Mario Draghi has requested to study options to create additional reserves. One week so far, the American authorities have halted the government services after Congressional leaders' talks ended without agreement. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees were told to stay at home last Monday. The previous U.S. government shutdown lasted 21 days in 1995.
