Apple denies interest in acquiring TikTok

Over the past few weeks, there have been multiple reports about a number of companies announcing their intention to buy TikTok. The media has recently revealed that US tech giant Microsoft formally declared its interest in acquiring the video-sharing platform from Chinese company ByteDance. Now, there are rumors about another potential buyer.

This time, it comes to Apple. Reports appeared about the company's allegedly strong desire to purchase the Chinese app. However, the American tech firm officially denied the rumors. Apple representatives responded on Twitter that there were no discussions about buying TikTok and the company was not interested in it. Experts noted that the purchase of TikTok would be atypical for the company since the Chinese social network service is a cross-platform application. Also, such a deal has a complex political background related to the confrontation between the US and Chinese authorities.

Of course, the situation with the acquisition of TikTok has not gone unnoticed by US President Donald Trump. The American leader, in his usual manner, took part in the negotiation process. Initially, he intended to do everything to make ByteDance sell its US business, so that the Chinese government could not get access to information about Americans who use the app. Then Donald Trump threatened to ban the social media platform and opposed Microsoft buying TikTok. Thus, talks over a potential deal appear to have been derailed due to the negative attitude of the US authorities.
