US President Donald Trump has long been in open conflict with the world's richest man, Jeff Bezos. Trump never misses an opportunity to scoff at Bezos on Twitter.
Not long ago, Trump renewed his attacks on Amazon's founder after the US Postal Service logged serious losses. It turns out that Amazon works so effectively that the Postal Service’s revenue is shrinking dramatically due to the decreasing number of orders. It loses 3-4 dollars on average for each parcel, working with similar companies. In a series of tweets in recent days, Donald Trump has accused Amazon of draining the state postal service of money. "This guy is supposed to be so wealthy, so let him pay for it," Trump said, referring to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Trump added that the post office should address its financial issues by raising delivery rates. It may help to offset delivery costs fueled by online retailers. In other words, the only way to solve the problem of shrinking revenues of the state postal service is to increase delivery costs based on the welfare of the delivery service. Instead of offering some competitive offers or trying to improve service quality, the delivery companies should raise their rates in order to survive.
In his turn, Jeff Bezos pays back Trump in the same coin. For example, he called on the US authorities to conduct checks on Amazon. "I believe that Amazon should be carefully checked. We should conduct thorough checks on all major institutions, whether they are companies, agencies, or non-governmental organizations. Our responsibility is to show excellent results during these checks," Bezos said. Amazon accounts for less than 1% of the global retail market and about 4% of retail in the US.
