According to Reuters, McDonald's Corp (MCD), world's biggest fast-food chain said it plans to end its forty-year relationship with ketchup maker H.J. Heinz Co, since that company is now led by Bernardo Hees, the former chief executive of hamburger rival Burger King Worldwide Inc (BKW.N).
The transition from Heinz sauses will be smooth and orderly. McDonald's has not announced the name of the new sauses supplier.
McDonald's has been cooperating with Heinz for forty years. Heinz ketchup and sauses are mainly served in McDonald's outside the US. In the United States McDonald's only serves Heinz ketchup in two domestic markets - Pittsburgh and Minneapolis.
In early 2013, billionaire investor Warren Buffet with partners bought Heinz for $28 billion and immediately named Hees CEO.
