It seems that China cannot simply forget about the fact that the truth about Huawei has been uncovered. The country is now seeking revenge for the sanctions imposed against the company. The American tech giant Apple became China’s first target. However, the Chinese authorities failed to spot any faults in its activity. Thus, Googlе became the next candidate for the blacklist.
Googlе became subject to an antitrust investigation for leveraging the dominance of its Android mobile operating system to stifle competition. The Chinese officials have not announced the launch of an official investigation yet. So far, they have only been threatening the United States. Still, political observers suggest that it is just a matter of time and the formal antitrust probe will come as soon as in October. Everything will depend on how the relationship between the top global economies will be developing. Experts have already called this case politically motivated. Some of them, however, believe that the conflict will not escalate into something more than just threats. Otherwise, the investigation will likely have an adverse impact on Google shares.
China's warning to Google sounded like a response to US accusations against Huawei. Earlier, Washington had found compelling evidence that Huawei was helping Beijing to spy on its users. The White House blacklisted Huawei, depriving the company of the opportunity to supply technologies and components for the deployment of 5G networks to the American market.
