The International Energy Agency (IEA) opened the door for Estonia to join the energy competence club, an official IEA press release says.
According to the IEA, Estonia is one of the largest shale oil producers.
Tallinn started talks over joining IEA yet in 2011.
The IEA is an independent agency founded by the OECD. The mission of the IEA is contributing to the international collaboration in supply and demand for energy and energy services. The agency was established in the aftermath of the 1973-1974 oil crisis for constant monitoring of the global energy market.
As of today, the IEA includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, new Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Great Britain, and the USA. Russia is not on the list.
